Carol began decorating cakes to earn extra money in 1982 when she had small children at home. The first “sold” cake was a baby shower cake, and from that cake she received 7 orders. A new Cottage Industry had been born. One of the ladies that called to order a cake asked….”Is this Creative Cakes?” And thus the name came to be.
She converted her garage into a commercial, phone order/delivery business in 1984. Within the first year, she was boasting the #1 referral of the large venues in her South Central California location. In 1990, she outgrew the garage, and opened a store front in Arroyo Grande, Calif.
Moving to Colorado Springs in 1992 was quite an adventure, as she and her 3 small children had never seen snow before! Very soon, she created a following of cake admirers, and in 2003, she opened a shop on Galley Street. and once again proved to be extremely successful in the business community.
And now, she has moved to the West Side, and is making wedding cakes and groom’s cakes, and her new name is “Creative Wedding Cakes of Colorado Springs.
